Infant water safety
In Hawaiʻi, the ocean is part of our way of life—but it also brings risk, especially for our youngest keiki. Drowning is the number one cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 in both Hawaiʻi and across the United States. The Alex & Duke De Rego Foundation is committed to changing that.
Through our Infant Water Safety Program, we provide life-saving education to families from the very beginning—starting at birth. In collaboration with Queen’s North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital and Kona Community Hospital, we share essential infant water safety information to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge they need to help prevent drowning.
Rooted in aloha and born from personal loss, our mission is to ensure that every ʻohana is equipped with the tools and awareness to protect their keiki in, on, and around the water. Together, we can lower these tragic statistics—one family at a time.
